š± WHAT THIS IS:
Welcome to the political litterbox, where voter rolls are being ācleanedā by authoritarians with a power complex and a paper shredder. This guide is about voter roll defense: how to check your registration, help others protect theirs, and how to legally challenge shady purges in your state. Because if they canāt beat you with ideas, theyāll erase your name and pretend you never existed.
ā ļø WHY THIS MATTERS:
In the last 24 hours alone, Georgia, Missouri, and Ohio began quiet voter purges targeting āinactive voters.ā Translation? If you didnāt vote in a local race or missed a piece of snail mail, your vote might already be gone. And who gets hit hardest? Black voters, renters, college students, low-income workers, and anyone without a stable address. Sound targeted? Because it is.
Authoritarians are betting youāre too busy to notice until itās too late. Letās prove them wrong.
ā STEP-BY-STEP: DEFENDING THE VOTE
1. šµļø Check your registrationāoften
Go to nass.org/Can-I-Vote. Check today, and mark your calendar to check again monthly through Election Day. Seriouslyāpurges are rolling.
2. š¬ Sign up for election alerts
Most states let you opt into voter status updates. If your state doesnāt, youāre gonna have to check manually. Yes, it sucks. Yes, do it anyway.
3. š§ Learn your stateās purge law
Each state has different voter roll maintenance rules. Use Brennan Center or 50501DC to see what your state is allowed to doāand what theyāre not.
4. š Help vulnerable voters
Create a checklist and go down it with your community:
- Have you moved?
- Changed names?
- Missed an election?
- Not gotten mail from your election office lately?
Help them check and re-register if needed. Set up a table at mutual aid events, concerts, or outside churches.
5. š§¹ Challenge illegal purges
See a mass purge with no notice? REPORT IT. File with your state election office and the Election Protection Hotline (866-OUR-VOTE). Then alert watchdog orgs like 50501 DC, Let America Vote, or Common Cause.
6. š¤ Turn it into noise
If your community is being purgedāgo public. Write op-eds, post on social, and organize protest events outside your stateās elections office. Shame works. So do lawsuits.
š¾ KITTY TIP:
Keep a screenshot of your current voter registration. If you get purged and want to raise hell, youāll need proof. Bonus: screenshots canāt āget lost in the mail.ā

š„ CLOSING CLAW-SWIPE:
You donāt need to storm the castle to stop a coupāyou just need to make damn sure your nameās still on the guest list. Authoritarians thrive in silence and apathy. So letās make some noise, protect the vote, and shred their little purge games like an angry kitten with a stack of hate mail.
Stay sharp. Stay registered. Stay dangerous to fascists.
