#171 Apply Pressure, Not Opinions

Posted on December 16, 2025March 3, 2026 Dr. Harmony By Dr. Harmony 2 Comments on #171 Apply Pressure, Not Opinions
Skill level: Beginner
Time needed: 10–20 minutes
Impact: High (when repeated)
What this is

Authoritarians don’t care what you think. They care what costs them money, legitimacy, time, or power. This guide teaches you how to stop broadcasting opinions and start applying pressure—the only language that consistently works.

Why this matters

Endless commentary creates the illusion of participation. Pressure creates consequences. The current political moment is full of outrage, scandal, corruption, and cruelty—but none of it changes unless institutions feel sustained discomfort. Pressure turns attention into action.

The tool: Pressure > Expression

Before doing anything political, ask one question:
“Does this create a cost for someone with power?”
If the answer is no, it’s probably just noise.

Step-by-step
  1. Identify the leverage point
Pick one target connected to today’s news:
    • A lawmaker
    • A regulatory agency
    • A corporate partner, donor, or advertiser
    • A platform enabling harm
If you can’t name the target, pause and refocus.
  2. Choose a cost-creating action
Prioritize actions that trigger tracking systems:
    • Phone calls (logged)
    • Canceled subscriptions
    • Donor pressure
    • Advertiser complaints
    • Public records requests
Visibility matters less than recorded impact.
  3. Use blunt language
You are not here to persuade. You are here to demand.
Example:“Extend ACA subsidies now. Letting them expire raises my costs.”
No essays. No debates. No emotional labor.
  4. Repeat, don’t escalate
Pressure works through repetition, not intensity.
    • Same message
    • Same target
    • Multiple days
      Consistency beats virality every time.
  5. Exit clean
Once the action is done, disengage.
    • No arguing online
    • No doomscrolling
    • No “one more article”
Resistance is a marathon, not a spiral.
Example in real life

Instead of posting “This is outrageous,” you:

  • Call your representative
  • Cancel a grift-linked service
  • Donate $5 to a targeted defense fund
  • File one FOIA or complaint
    Then you stop. That’s resistance.
Common traps to avoid

❌ Mistaking attention for power

❌ Arguing with strangers instead of targeting institutions

❌ Waiting for “the perfect moment”

❌ Burning out by trying to do everything

Final word from Resistance Kitty

They count on you being loud and ineffective.
Be boring. Be consistent. Be expensive to ignore. 😼✊
