🐾 Tariffs, Censorship, and Texas Mayhem—Oh My
It’s Monday in America, and your fascist-in-chief is back on his bullshit. Trump just canceled a massive clean energy project, fired a labor official for reporting actual data, and tried to jail Texas Democrats for refusing to help gerrymander voters into oblivion. Toss in some international tariff warfare and a bit of queer art censorship for spice—and you’ve got yourself another fascism-forward Monday under the MAGA regime. Here’s what you need to know (and what to do about it).
1. Trump Just Killed a Massive Wind Energy Project
The Grain Belt Express—an 800-mile, job-creating, climate-saving power line—is toast. Trump’s administration axed the federal loan deal, blaming “AI infrastructure realignment,” which is code for “we hate anything green unless it’s money.” This was a key part of America’s future clean grid. Now it’s a smoking pile of fossil-fueled sabotage.
2. He Fired the Labor Guy for Telling the Truth
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported a weak July jobs report—just 73,000 new jobs—and someone in the White House didn’t like the math. So Trump fired the top BLS official. Now the administration is “reviewing the integrity of economic data,” which we all know means “cooking the books until the numbers obey.”
3. Texas Democrats Fled the State to Block Gerrymandering—and Got Threatened with Arrest
The GOP tried to force through a redistricting bill that would gut Black and Latino voting power. So Texas Dems walked out and left the state. Governor Abbott called it “treason” and threatened criminal charges. Meanwhile, other governors like California’s and Illinois’s said they’ll shelter the Dems. Kitty says: that’s how you quorum-drop with style.
4. SCOTUS Takes Aim at Voting Rights Again
The Supreme Court agreed to hear Louisiana v. Callais, a case that could gut protections for majority-minority districts under the Voting Rights Act. Because if there’s one thing SCOTUS hates more than trans kids and unions, it’s Black voters with representation.
5. Tariff Daddy Strikes Again
Trump added new 30% tariffs on South African and Indian goods—this time claiming it’s to “punish countries working with Russia.” In reality, it’s punishing working families here who rely on affordable imports. India is furious. South African officials called it “economic warfare.” So… mission accomplished?
6. Smithsonian Censors Trans Art
Artist Amy Sherald’s portrait series “Trans Forming Liberty” was pulled from the Smithsonian after political pressure. It featured trans Americans posed in historic American scenes, and fascists lost their minds. Instead of defending free speech, the museum folded. This is what censorship looks like under authoritarian rule: quiet, sanitized, and erasing you.
Featured Resister: The Women’s March
They helped organize over 400 August 2 protests, trained legal observers, and launched a protester legal defense fund. They’re also leading the fight to defend reproductive rights in states like Arizona and Georgia. Show some love at resistancedirectory.com/links/womens-march

Resistance Kitty’s Final Meow
This regime is doing exactly what authoritarian playbooks warn us about: silencing artists, jailing opposition, rewriting the numbers, and canceling anything that threatens their grip on power. But guess what? We are everywhere. We are smarter. And we’re just getting started. So sharpen those claws, kittens—because Resistance Week 29 is officially in session.
