Claws Out Activities: Protect vaccine access, defend autistic people, and make elected officials answer for their decisions.
Morning, kitties. Public health should help people survive. Apparently, we now have to explain that to the people running it.
If you want to push back against RFK Jr.’s vaccine misinformation and Florida’s attempts to weaken vaccination protections, bring evidence and a specific demand. Outrage gets the claws out. Organized pressure gives them somewhere useful to land.
Today’s mission: Protect access to vaccination, demand accountable health policy, and defend autistic people’s dignity and privacy.
What Florida Actually Tried to Change
Florida’s vaccine rollback proposal included removing certain childhood vaccination requirements through administrative rules. Other requirements were written into state law and needed legislative action to change.
Removing a requirement is different from banning a vaccine. Both deserve scrutiny, but they require different responses.
The official record for SB 1756 shows that Florida’s 2026 “Medical Freedom” bill died in House messages on March 13, 2026. Its proposed effective date did not make it law.
Florida’s published childhood immunization guidance still lists school vaccination requirements. Families should confirm applicable requirements with their school and health care provider.
Precision matters, kitties. Give officials a documented policy to defend instead of an inaccurate claim they can swat away.
The Science Receipts
Vaccines Do Not Cause Autism
The World Health Organization’s December 2025 review reaffirmed that available evidence shows no causal relationship between vaccines and autism.
Repeating a disproven claim from a government podium does not improve its scientific credentials.
Autistic people deserve appropriate health care, education, accommodations, and support. Their value does not depend on whether they work, speak, live independently, or make somebody else comfortable.
The Tylenol Claim Needs Evidence, Too
The 2024 JAMA study of approximately 2.48 million children found no association between prenatal acetaminophen exposure and autism, ADHD, or intellectual disability in its sibling comparison analyses. Those comparisons help account for shared family factors that can distort simpler associations.
That finding does not establish that every medication is appropriate for every pregnancy. Discuss medication decisions with a qualified clinician.
Politicians do not get to turn an association into a proven cause because the accusation makes a convenient headline.
“Turbo Cancer” Is Not a Scientific Finding
The National Cancer Institute’s vaccine guidance states that there is no evidence COVID vaccines cause cancer, cause cancer recurrence, or accelerate cancer progression.
Real vaccine risks deserve transparent research and honest discussion. Invented diagnoses deserve a litter scoop.
Put Autistic People at the Center
The Autistic Self Advocacy Network’s April 2025 statement and clarification raised concerns about the administration’s proposed use of medical data. It also distinguished carefully deidentified research from sharing identifiable information without adequate consent and privacy protections.
ASAN explicitly said it had not seen evidence that the proposed database would be used to round up autistic people.
Demand safeguards, independent oversight, and autistic participation in research decisions. Support research that addresses people’s needs.
Our advocacy should make people safer and better informed. That includes refusing to circulate frightening claims we cannot substantiate.
Step by Step Guide
Step 1: Choose One Concrete Demand
Pick an outcome an official can act on: preserve school vaccination protections, protect vaccine access, fund local immunization services, or require independent oversight of federal health research.
Keep your request specific. “Fix everything” produces a lovely opportunity for a meaningless response.
Step 2: Contact the Office With Authority
Find your Florida legislators for state legislation and funding. Address administrative rule changes to the responsible agency through its current public participation process.
Find your federal elected officials to request congressional oversight of HHS, research spending, and vaccine policy. Ask for public hearings, published evidence, and written answers.
A school board cannot remove a federal health secretary. Send each demand where someone has the power to address it.
Step 3: Make the Call and Request a Written Answer
Give your name, city, and ZIP code. State one concern and one request. Ask for the official’s position in writing.
Record the date and response. Follow up when an office answers a question about vaccine policy with three paragraphs about freedom and absolutely no policy.
Step 4: Show Up With Receipts
Check current meeting notices, agendas, and comment deadlines. Prepare a short statement naming the proposal, its likely consequences, and the action you want.
Bring a source you can explain. Invite clinicians, disabled residents, parents, and autistic advocates to speak for themselves. Obtain permission before sharing anyone’s health information or story.
Step 5: Turn Advocacy Into Practical Support
Help someone locate a vaccination appointment, arrange transportation, or prepare questions for their clinician. Share verified information about local services.
Ask disability organizations what support they need. Make meetings accessible, offer written participation, and provide materials in large print.
The resistance should be easier to join than a pharmaceutical assistance program.
Call Script for Florida Officials
Hello, my name is [Name], and I live in [City, ZIP Code]. I am asking you to preserve evidence based school vaccination protections and access to recommended vaccines.
Please oppose efforts to weaken those protections without a transparent review of the evidence and consequences. Protect medically necessary exemptions and funding for local immunization services.
Please send me your position in writing and identify any legislation or agency rule changes you support.
Call Script for Congress
Hello, my name is [Name], and I am a constituent in [ZIP Code]. I want congressional oversight of HHS vaccine policy and autism research.
Please demand transparent evidence reviews, disclosure of conflicts of interest, protection of medical privacy, and meaningful participation by autistic people. Protect vaccine access and public health funding.
Please send me a written explanation of what oversight action your office will take.
Today’s To Do List
- Contact one state office and one federal office.
- Share one verified scientific source.
- Check one current meeting or rulemaking notice.
- Help one person access health care or participate in advocacy.
- Follow up on unanswered requests.
Final Scratch From Resistance Kitty
Fighting RFK Jr.’s misinformation and Florida’s public health rollbacks takes more than a furious comment thread. It takes accurate claims, persistent constituent pressure, accessible organizing, and care for the people affected.
Make them explain the evidence. Make them defend the consequences. Make them put their answer in writing.
Claws out. Receipts ready. Our communities deserve better.
