Good morning, kittens. Election Day has arrived, and the usual democracy goblins are suing voter outreach programs, hiding surveillance rulings and floating schemes to reject winners they dislike. Resistance Kitty is covering the chaos across social media today, because apparently democracy needs a decision desk, an emergency hotline and a black cat with trust issues.

Shit Show Recap
- Ellie Leonard takes apart Haley Stevens’s decision to endorse Republican Mike Rogers over Democrat Abdul El Sayed. Betraying your party two days before an election is certainly one way to make sure everyone remembers your name.
- The Ramm provides an Election Day legal checklist covering provisional ballots, mail ballots, poll challengers and voter intimidation. Save it before someone with a laminated badge starts inventing laws near the check in table.
- International Business Times reports that nine Trump Cabinet secretaries face complaints alleging Hatch Act violations. No violations have been formally established, but the ethics smoke machine is working overtime.
- Wired reports that anti oligarchy activists plan to publish addresses linked to Elon Musk and hundreds of wealthy figures. Billionaire accountability matters, but publishing homes can endanger families, workers and neighbors who never purchased a seat in the oligarchy.
- Wired reveals that the administration is withholding a secret court ruling about warrantless searches of Americans’ communications. Nothing says trustworthy surveillance program quite like hiding the ruling that explains why nobody should trust it.
- Wired exposes a right wing proposal to stop certain Democrats from taking office even after they win. Legal experts say the theory would likely fail, but fascist fan fiction becomes dangerous when powerful people start treating it like a manual.
- The New Republic reports that Ken Paxton’s office sued Harris County over voting advertisements directed toward Black, Latino and Asian communities. Paxton recused himself, leaving his office to perform the voter suppression cosplay without him.
- The Guardian found at least 20 cases in which immigrants won court ordered release and were quickly detained again by ICE. Apparently a federal ruling is merely a suggestion when cruelty is the agency mission statement.
- Military.com reports that 79 percent of surveyed service members, veterans and military families believe politicians and society are leaving them behind. Politicians love military backdrops almost as much as they hate funding the humans standing in them.
- Politico examines Ukraine’s uncertain future as several powerful Republican supporters leave Congress. Bipartisan support is thinning just as Ukraine needs lawmakers capable of remembering why invaded democracies matter.
- The Punch Up reports that Trump endorsed congressional candidate Mike Beltran failed to disclose legal work for former Florida lawmaker Chris Dorworth. Federal rules require certain major clients to be identified, which is inconvenient when the client history smells like a political crime documentary.
- Resistance Kitty’s RSG #377 is the Election Day survival guide for voting, documenting problems and protecting yourself at the polls. Read it before leaving home, because panic is not a plan and Facebook is not an election lawyer.
- Florida election officials provide emergency voting information for residents affected by flooding and other disasters. Check your polling information before traveling, especially if weather has rearranged your county like patio furniture.
- The Hartmann Report asks whether Trump could escalate the Iran war to protect his political future. The article presents a warning and analysis, not an established plan, but unstable leaders and giant weapons remain a deeply shitty combination.
- The Punch Up reports that the Pentagon awarded Raytheon a contract extension worth up to $400 million after the company admitted defrauding the government. Accountability apparently means admitting the fraud before receiving another mountain of taxpayer money.
- Resistance Kitty’s National Dumpster Fire Response Team is covering Election Day across X at @harmonyusinc, Bluesky at @drharmony.net and Substack. Expect rolling updates, occasional live coverage, election bingo and enough dark humor to keep the map from eating your soul.
- The Newsground reports that John Staluppi gave $100,000 to Byron Donalds’s campaign and political committee. Law enforcement and court records have identified Staluppi as a Colombo crime family member, while his attorney has denied Mafia ties.
